About the Shepherd
Humans have been worshipping myriads of deities for millennia, yet only one God claims that He created the Universe and everything in it, and that there are no gods other than Him.
This Creator claims that He is the Good Shepherd and that all humans scattered across the face of the Earth are sheep.
This Good Shepherd declares that all the sheep outside his flock are lost, condemned by the corrupt nature of their hearts, and marked by Evil.
But this Good Shepherd affirms that He wants to forge a relationship of trust and love with all these lost sheep, and that they will benefit from this exceptional relationship if they accept to be part of His flock.
So, because of the love that the Good Shepherd has for each of these lost sheep, He has opened up one and only one Way for them all to follow in order to join His flock and remain under His benevolent protection, cancelling the mark of Evil that condemns them, and placing in them His own mark of ownership that protects them from Evil.
The Good Shepherd does not force any of these lost sheep to follow this Way in order to be saved from Evil, but he warns that it is only by following this Way without turning away from it that these sheep seeking rest and protection will be able to enter his flock.
This saving Way is :
This Jesus, a man full of mysteries, teaches the multitudes how to enter this flock and receive this distinctive mark of the Creator, sometimes by speaking of Him as a Son of God just as He teaches us to become sons and daughters of God, sometimes by speaking of Him as the Creator incarnate in a fleshly body.
Sometimes He presents Himself as a great earthly Brother who gives us the perfect example to follow, sometimes He presents Himself as the Heavenly Father and the Good Shepherd.
So, like a Father who loves us, He corrects us when we go astray, so that we come back under His protection.
And like a Shepherd who loves his sheep, he guides us, sometimes against our will, to prevent us from falling off the cliff and to lead us to the greenest pastures.
That's why, like sentinel sheep, let's listen, follow his voice, scan his silhouette, because whoever we were, wherever we came from, whatever we believed up to now, and whatever we may have done in our past lives that makes us feel guilty, the Creator never ceases to look upon us with his gaze filled with fatherly love, and he calls us all to walk in his footsteps and to abide in him so that he may abide in us.
This is the vocation of Oveja Centinela : to learn together to abide in Jesus, and to share with those who wish to receive it the faith that is pleasing in the eyes of the Creator.
